This jutsu allows the user to seal nearby fire. The user writes the seal on a scroll and then performs the required handseals. This causes a vapor to appear from the scroll, enveloping the fire and sealing it on the scroll as the kanji for seal (封). Jiraiya used this jutsu to seal away the left over black fire from Itachi Uchiha's Amaterasu technique, an impressive feat, considering that Amaterasu's flames are as hot as the sun

Jiraiya will draw additional lines on his cheeks then summon the two Toad Elders, Ma and Pa to assist him in battle. Hermit Mode is the result of using Senjutsu's natural chakra in place of normal chakra.

When the toad elders arrive Jiraiya's appearance is altered (he has a bigger nose, a goatee and his eyes are like a toads) in this form Jiraiya’s strength and speed is increased. When Jiraiya transforms to Full Hermit Mode, he crouches and his body takes on even more toad like appearance: his hands and feet becomes toad-like, the lines on his face also become much thicker taking each side of his face. Since he was taught from the elder toads, he has formed in the appearance of a frog style. He will also take the stance of the frogs increasing his speed, power, and chakra by tenfold. Also while Jiraiya is in Hermit Mode, he will be able to use various jutsu that are extremely powerful compared to his original arsenal. It was revealed that the reason Jiraiya took a frog-like appearance is because of the training method he used to learn Senjutsu. The fastest method of learning Senjutsu was the Secret Toad's Oil on the Myobokuzan Mountain. It could help you feel and use Natural energy, but if you could not balance it, you would turn into a frog. Jiraiya could not completely control the natural energy and thus had a frog-like appearance when using Hermit Mode.

Jiraiya's Toad Transport Technique is an unnamed ninjutsu where Jiraiya takes advantage of his toad summoning. Since summoned creatures use space/time transportation to instantly travel to any location, Jiraiya will get inside a toad's stomach, letting him travel wherever the toad goes. It can be used to enter an area undetected.

Using this jutsu Jiraiya can spit out a large quantity of oil from his mouth that with the two Toad Sennin can be used to fuel Fire attacks. This is a Hermit Mode attack skill used with Fukasaku, "Pa" Toad and his wife Ma. It was Ma's suggestion to "fry" something up for dinner, her providing the flames, Jiraiya the oil, and Pa, fanning it. So while Ma breathed a Fire Release technique, Pa breathed a steady stream Wind Release, and Jiraiya spat Toad Oil.

This is a combination move of Jiraiya and the Toad Senins(Ni Dai Senin), while Jirayia is in his Hermit Mode(Sage Mode)

To use this technique will Ma the right shoulder uses a Katon Jutsu and spits out fire, while Jirayia spits out oil, fuelling the fire, and the Pa on the left shoulder uses a Füton Jutsu to blow out wind to add even more power to the attack, and also give it a longer range.

This jutsu lengthens Jiraiya's hair and uses it to capture or attack his foe. His hair is extremely tough(presumably strengthened with chakra) and can take the form of sharp spikes, impaling any captured enemies.

The user, either Naruto or Jiraiya, stands on top of Gamabunta's head while he spits a large amount of oil allowing the user to use a fire technique or an explosive to set the oil on fire. While Jiraiya uses Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique to light the oil, Naruto has to use explosive tags because of his lack of fire techniques. This jutsu covers the most area next to Amaterasu.

Senjutsu (仙術, Hermit Technique; Also known as "Sage Technique") refers to the user's chakra created from spiritual and physical energy within the shinobi as well as energy from nature. This results in the drastically increase of physical attacks and jutsu. It would seem that it stems from the toads, as only Jiraiya and Fukasaka have been shown using them, and Gamakichi being the only one who is familiar with it. Other than Jiraiya, Naruto Uzumaki, who also possesses a large chakra reserve that enables the production of high amounts of chakra is the only other human capable of learning and using Senjutsu. Unfortunately, if the user puts too little chakra into using hermit techniques, the technique will not initiate and if the user puts too much chakra into the techniques, the user will start to turn into a frog. If a special scepter is not in contact during the transformation by a toad, the user will completely transform into a frog. Jiraiya, a legendary Sannin, had trouble using his sage form and he slightly turns into a frog. This involved his nose and hands and face changing to a more toad-like appearance. However, Naruto, who has just learned how to sense sage chakra, only has dark rings around his eyes and horizontal, slit-pupils, and a few warts. He is still able to use his sage chakra well, since he was able to lift a giant frog statue with his sage chakra but accidentally drops it prompting Pa to remark that Naruto is even clumsier then Jiraiya...

The Kaneshibari Genjutsu is a powerful genjutsu that, according to Jiraiya, traps the soul. The users must first sing a certain melody that effects whomever hears it. Once it is heard, the user has the power to bind the victims mind and body, resulting in the image of four giant toad statues trapping the victim in a cube of water. Once trapped, the victims are vulnerable to outside attacks. The major draw back of the genjutsu is that it requires the users to sing, which immediately gives away their location.

Needle Guardian is a technique used by Jiraiya for defense. Jiraiya's hair will grow in length to surround and protect his body. In this form it also becomes rigid and spiked, in a manner similar to a hedgehog's or porcupine's quills, forming a layer of protection from direct strikes, and blows from certain types of weapons such as arrows.

However this technique has a weak spot, that is, that it will ussualy not cover the face, leaving it open for attack.

Toad Flat Shadow Control Technique allows Jiraiya to merge with the shadow of a subdued foe, similar to the Shadow Imitation Technique of the Nara Clan. Jiraiya can then fully control the victim from within their shadow, allowing him to more easily infiltrate foreign territories. If he has to use his other jutsu, he must emerge from the shadow. Once he fully emerges, the hold over his victim is broken and they regain control of their body.

The basic form of all summoning techniques, this jutsu uses a contract, hand seals, and the user's blood to summon an animal or weapon from another dimension. As an alternative to the normal hand seals, the same contract that appears on the ground during the summoning can be drawn by hand and activated, producing the same result. The type of animal summoned is determined by the contract. The blood is used as a signature to make the contract, which can be written on a scroll or tattoo, valid. Once summoned, the animal can perform a task or help the user in battle.

After forming the necessary hand seals,this jutsu encloses the surrounding area with the esophagus of a great, fire-breathing toad from Mount Myoboku: Rock Lodging (妙木山・岩宿, Myōboku-san: Iwayado). Jiraiya can then control the esophagus, causing it to expand, contract, or grow in whatever direction he wishes. In a filler arc, Jiraiya uses a variation of this jutsu when he summons an able-bodied toad's stomach to protect himself and Naruto from Kagero's Ephemeral Vengeance.

When first used, Jiraiya claimed that no one had ever escaped from this jutsu. Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki manage to escape, however. Itachi uses his Amaterasu to burn through the esophagus.

In the video games, parts of the esophagus also spew fire, which fits with Jiraiya's description of the animal the toad esophagus originates from.

However the size of the swamp is proportioned to the amount of chakra of the user, as when Jiraiya was drugged and had his chakra blocked, he only had enough chakra to get one of Orochimaru's snakes stuck when it should have been killed

This jutsu allows the user to spy on foes up close or at a distance, and by the name possibly allows the user to appear transparent or invisible to the opponent. It was invented by Jiraiya in his youth to allow him to spy on girls bathing without the large risk of being caught and beaten by Tsunade. Interestingly enough, the Third Hokage was also interested in this jutsu, prompting Jiraiya to speculate that his sensei was as perverted as he was.
